Stores of the future – Inditex
Techonological Centre: ENERGYLAB
Customers and/or partners: INDITEX
Start and end dates: 2012 – 2013
Competition R&D: Energy and Sustainability
The main objective of this project was the definition of innovative proposals for improving energy efficiency and environmental sustainability in Inditex stores. The purpose was to lay down the groundwork for the design of new stores (refurbishments and 100% new openings), ensuring maximum commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability so that, by 2020, all Inditex outlets are eco-efficient.
Inditex, the largest textile group in the world, has more than 6300 stores in 87 markets. By adopting some of the innovative energy-efficiency proposals included in the project and the other initiatives included in the Inditex Environmental Strategic Plan, it reduced energy consumption per garment sold in Group-owned stores by 2.3% between 2013 and 2014.
